An incredible opportunity to build, grow and shape our new Muti-Academy Trust, founded upon the success of a large and well-regarded school, in one of the most dynamic and modern cities in the country - Manchester. We are looking for an outstanding leader, with experience as a Head or Principal. The successful candidate will be inspiring and have a collegiate and engaging people-management style.
Above all, we are looking for someone who is committed to the interests and future of our region's young people, and who can lead with a compelling vision.
"There is strong leadership throughout the school..."
"Behaviour in lessons and around the school is good, including at lunchtime and break. Students consistently show respect towards one another and to adults."
"There are ample opportunities for students to assume leadership roles and to become fully involved in school life."
The vacancy arises with the creation of a new Multi-Academy Trust for Manchester and the region.
Building on the success of Parrs Wood High School, the Greater Manchester Learning Trust aspires to create a family of schools providing an outstanding educational experience at all phases in the journey.
The Executive Principal will lead the strategic development of the Trust and the delivery of that strategy through the leadership teams within the Trust's schools.
We are extremely pleased to report record-breaking GCSE outcomes for our 2015/16 year 11 cohort.
Following consistently good outcomes in previous years, 72% of our year 11s achieved at least 5 A*-C including English and Maths. At 'A' level, almost 28% of grades were at A*/A and 51% were at A*/B.
Our OfSTED report is Grade 2 'Good' and we are making progress towards an 'Outstanding' inspection judgement. Inspectors said that
'as a result of good teaching, students overall make good progress so that they reach higher than average standards in many subjects, including English, science and mathematics.'
We have prepared a comprehensive information pack with all the documents you will need to make an excellent application.
These include a letter from the Chair of the Board of Trustees, a Job Description, a Person Specification, the required Application Form, and other documents with information about the vacancy, the Trust, and Parrs Wood High School.
"Staff are highly committed to the school and to the vision that has been created by senior leaders and governors."
At this early stage in the development of the Trust, Parrs Wood High School is the school within the MAT.
Parrs Wood High School opened in 1967 as an 11-18 coeducational comprehensive school situated in the South Manchester suburb of Didsbury. Our main school is housed in buildings opened in the year 2000, with 1,500 pupils in years 7 to 11, whilst our 400 Sixth Form students are mainly based in Parrs Wood house, our 18th century Georgian villa and newly-built extension with cutting-edge IT suites, classrooms and coffee shop.
We are truly comprehensive - a multi-faith, multi-cultural school, as befits one of our country's greatest cities, with a broad range of ability levels but an excellent local, national and international reputation. Parrs Wood High School is at the heart of our local, and our regional communities.
"Teachers' strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm helps to create lessons which students enjoy. Their calm approach to behaviour management means that students remain on task."
Our first Executive Principal will lead the Strategic Development and growth of the Trust.
He or she will be experienced as a Head or Principal, and will have had a stong record of previous success in leadership roles.
An accomplished people-manager able to influence and inspire others, he or she will have sound commercial acumen to seek out opportunities and manage projects. As an educational leader, he or she will have significant experience in raising and/or maintaining high academic achievement and attainment with a commitment to inclusivity.
"Congratulations and thank you to all the staff and students. Amazing open night. My 10 year old daughter was in her element. I don't think I've ever seen her so confident and comfortable talking to teachers and other children she didn't know. The atmosphere was so welcoming. You all did a superb job. Especially one of your new year 7 pupils who acted as our guide this evening."

Located in the South Manchester suburb of Didsbury, within cosmopolitan Greater Manchester, and with a unique village-within-a-town-within-a-city feel. There are strong commuter links throughout the North West including good rail and tram infrastructure and easy access to Manchester City Centre, with the Universities close by and the International Airport only some 10 minutes (5 miles) away .
The Trust is commutable from most of the main towns in the region including Manchester, Stockport, Trafford, Bolton, Warrington, the other towns in Greater Manchester and from much of Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire, and Derbyshire via the M56, M60, M67 and M62. The Trust is close to the culture and bustle of city life, but lies close to the beautiful Peak District hills and Cheshire plains.
